We know that the rebel says No; No to stasis, what is established, what is known to be true which is not, corruption, poverty, red tape, deceit, dishonesty, greed, and power. We know that power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely. We know that art, at the highest level, moves you with such energy, that it changes your opinion.
These ideals formed Confederate “Combat”. It is absolute power. It is pure irony in the palm of your right hand. The boundaries of temptation are blurred as you feel yourself yield toward compromise. Your will to break it (absolute power) down, as you must, is simultaneously illuminated, clarified and nurtured. The boats are burning. You must do what you know is right, or else.
All previous Combat Confederates, from 1999, were spectacular uncompromised achievements to be treasured for the ages. But, this P51 Combat Fighter, entirely hewn from solid leaving not even an ounce of fat, making over 200 horsepower and delivering over a foot pound of torque right off idle for every three pounds of mass, is our personal magnum opus.
There are industrial giants in foreign lands claiming more horsepower through a process quite rightly labeled, by one of our rebel anti-heroes, Hunter Thompson, as squeezing goo from a tube. We don’t care about that, because the rebel will always prefer being shot out of a cannon.
Introducing the G2 P51 Combat Fighter
Like its hugely successful predecessor, the Combat Fighter is inspired by the 1960’s rebel, anti-hero and the stripped, raw, chopper he rode. This second-generation Combat Fighter rides on our brand new CX4 architecture, a lighter, tougher evolution of our class leading, patented, drag racing derived powertrain and powertrain mounting system.
This exercise in muscle bike purity is built entirely of 6061 aerospace billet aluminum, right down to the unitized engine block and heads. Overbuilt machined fuselage plates located by machined bulkheads form a brilliant proprietary monocoque that is the stiffest, most fatigue-resistant and lightest chassis capable of housing the greatest amount of torque as a percentage of weight ever achieved in all of motordom. No expense was spared in the design and creative process, adhering to Confederate’s mandate of only developing the best and finest achievable.
Confederate leveraged the talents of original P51 head designer John Kaase, who facilitated the second generation model’s all new head design and induction system. The result is the achievement of a goal that the company has sought since its inception: 200 big-block, air-cooled, push-rod, V-twin horsepower.
The new bike’s chassis incorporates a structural intake box that ties directly into a CNC billet aluminum structural downdraft intake manifold, an industry first. The fuel tank is structural; huge billet blocks are machined and masterfully welded to create the bridge that connects the induction system to the massive swing arm pivot machined into the unitized billet engine cases. Each front suspension girder and the rear swing arm are hewn from huge blocks of solid, as well, via five axis machining technology, to optimize structural integrity and fatigue resistance while minimizing un-sprung weight.
A total of 61 P51 Combat Fighter Special Editions are scheduled to be crafted: 31 will be designated blonde and presented as raw machined billet; 30 will be designated black and presented as raw machined billet anodized black. MSRP for the blonde is $125,000 USD; MSRP for the black is $130,000 USD.
There exists both beauty and brutality in the P51 Combat Fighter aesthetic and the way it rides you. It is the metaphor for American rebellion.
